The Achill Yawl Sailing Festival (Cruinniú Bádóirí Acla) is an annual event that stretches throughout the summer months, from June to September. It features a series of races involving traditional Achill yawl sailing boats at a number of locations around Achill Island and Clew Bay. The yawl festival has grown considerably in recent years, signalling a revival in the construction of these traditional sailing craft.

| Óstán Oileán Acla (Achill Island Hotel) is committed to the development of this traditional and exciting local sport. As well as hosting several of the racing meetings at Achill Sound and sponsoring the Alice Sweeney Memorial Cup, the proprietors also participate in the yawl racing in the yawl An Lon Dubh.
